Bayanat AI PLC, a leading provider of AI-powered geospatial and smart mobility solutions, and Oxa, a pioneer in autonomous vehicle (AV) technology, have announced a strategic partnership to advance the development and deployment of autonomous vehicle solutions in the UAE and beyond.

The Abu Dhabi Investment Office (ADIO) supports this collaboration as part of its Smart and Autonomous Vehicle Industry (SAVI) cluster, underscoring the UAE’s commitment to fostering innovation and technological advancement.

Partnership Inauguration and Objectives

The partnership was officially inaugurated during a visit by a high-level delegation from Bayanat and ADIO to Oxa’s headquarters in Oxford, UK.

The collaboration will leverage Bayanat’s extensive AI-powered geospatial analytics capabilities and expertise in running autonomous vehicles alongside Oxa’s cutting-edge technologies to create innovative solutions for smart cities and autonomous transportation systems.

SAVI Cluster and Regional Impact

Abu Dhabi’s SAVI cluster, launched in 2023, aims to establish Abu Dhabi as a leading hub for smart and autonomous vehicle technology in the MENA region.

The cluster promotes significant contributions across air, land, and sea mobility applications, supporting innovation and commercializing smart and autonomous vehicle technologies in the UAE.

This partnership aligns with the cluster’s goals by fostering the development of autonomous vehicle technologies and supporting their commercialization in the UAE.

Key Outcomes and Talent Development

One of the primary goals of the Bayanat-Oxa partnership is to explore the creation of an Autonomous Mobility Centre of Excellence in Abu Dhabi.

This center will leverage regional ecosystem links to advance autonomous vehicle technology. Additionally, the partnership will focus on hiring and nurturing local talent, including software and hardware engineers, data scientists, and legal professionals, supported by Oxa’s academic network and collaborations with institutions like the Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence (MBZUAI).

Leadership and Support

Hasan Al Hosani, Managing Director of Bayanat, emphasized the significance of this collaboration, stating, “By combining our expertise in geospatial analytics and AV operations with Oxa’s leadership in autonomous vehicle technology, we are poised to create groundbreaking solutions that will enhance mobility, safety, and efficiency in urban areas.”

Gavin Jackson, CEO of Oxa, highlighted the strategic value of the partnership, noting, “Using the knowledge gained from our existing commercial deployments in the US and Bayanat’s technical capabilities, we expect to accelerate the adoption of autonomy across multiple use cases.”

Nayef Shahin, Director of Innovation and Knowledge at ADIO, expressed pride in the collaboration, stating, “The Oxa Bayanat collaboration is proof of our objective to connect global and local mobility innovators to pioneer new pathways for the future of transport.”

This partnership represents a significant step forward in autonomous vehicle technology, promising to deliver transformative solutions that will shape the future of urban mobility and smart city development.
