ChargePoint and Porsche Cars North America are partnering to integrate ChargePoint’s extensive charging network into the Porsche Charging Service. This collaboration aims to enhance the charging experience for Porsche EV and plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) customers across North America.
Porsche customers can access more than 100,000 charging stations across North America via the ChargePoint network through this partnership. The integration will be accessible through the My Porsche app, allowing drivers to easily locate, use, and pay for charging services at supported stations. The ChargePoint integration is expected to go live in the fourth quarter of 2024.
Rick Wilmer, CEO of ChargePoint, expressed his enthusiasm for the partnership, stating, “ChargePoint is honored to help Porsche provide their drivers with a charging experience that aligns with the rest of their renowned brand experience. We are pleased to offer more charging options for Porsche drivers, and ChargePoint software will enhance their experience by enabling integrated and frictionless charging.”
Timo Resch, President and CEO of PCNA, highlighted this collaboration’s significance in enhancing the customer experience and expanding charging options. “We passionately believe in choice, and as a result, we are constantly looking for opportunities to enhance our customer experience and expand charging options. This is a significant step in that direction and well-timed as we look forward to the arrival of the new Taycan at Porsche Centers this summer and that of the all-new Macan Electric later this year.”
The integration will expand charging options, allowing Porsche EV and PHEV customers to charge at ChargePoint and roaming partner stations through the My Porsche app. This addition will enable Porsche Charging Service customers to access more than 75% of the charging ports available to Porsche drivers across North America, according to data from the U.S. Department of Energy’s Alternate Fuels Data Center as of April 30, 2024.
Porsche announced plans in late 2023 to implement the North American Charging Standard (NACS) charging port for future regional products. ChargePoint supports all types of charge ports across its product line, including AC, DC, and home charging solutions, ensuring a seamless charging experience for all EV drivers.
Porsche has been actively expanding its electric vehicle lineup in North America. The Porsche Taycan, the brand’s first fully electric sports car, has been well-received, with thousands of units sold in the United States alone. The upcoming launch of the all-new Macan Electric will further boost Porsche’s presence in the EV market.
Porsche’s commitment to electric mobility is evident in its continuous efforts to enhance the charging infrastructure and provide a superior customer experience. The partnership with ChargePoint demonstrates Porsche’s dedication to offering its customers the best EV ownership experience.
